Data Protection Day seminar on January 28, 2009

Wednesday January 28, 2009 is Data Protection Day in Europe. The Finnish event, with theme “Raising Awareness” is organized by the data ombudsman, EFFI and education authorities. The event is held at Koillis-Helsingin Medialukio (Moisiontie 3, Helsinki) from 4pm to 8pm.

The event focuses on finding ways to improve citizens’ and communities’ awareness of data protection issues. Data Ombudsman Reijo Aarnio chairs the event. Additional themes include finding out why Finland has fallen behind in information society development and what causes the lack of preparedness for information society. The specific purpose is to find concrete ways to improve the current situation.
